Above and Below A 1988 Project Revisited.
We were called back to carry out additional work to a right of way that was causing
damage through silt run off onto my clients property. And to lay a new patio to replace and extend the, one laid by Peter when they moved in a few years prior to our completing the above project.
This was a Fascinating project, the majority of which is now hidden by shrubs. for instance the main retaining wall we built is to the left of these pictures, incorporating a set of semi spiral steps to this lower plateau, with the right of way approx three - four metres above and away from the retaining wall.
The Retreat re-named Alhambra
Designed by Graham and conceived on the spot, to blend with the steeply sloping ground. It consists of an area divided into rooms on three different levels, and is based upon the idea of a Folly, made to look like the ruins of a grand setting many hundreds of years old. Ruth and Peter nicknamed it Alhambra. Now it offers an air of mysticism, a Secret and enchanting Retreat.
This work was completed in 1988 and through it we were recommended to John Bower, where we spent the best part of 1989 restoring the grounds and collapsed walls of East Worthel farm, that had as a working farm lost it's charm. again we were called back recently to relay cobbles to a section of the lower drive, that had been left untouched, back in 1989.
